Best of WNC 2025!
A heartfelt thank you, Asheville! Because of your votes, Odyssey was recognized in the Mountain Xpress Best of WNC for our school, preschool, art education program, and our amazing music teacher, AgustΓn Palomo Ramos.
Weβre so grateful to be part of such a loving, supportive community. Your belief in Odyssey helps our students, teachers, and families shine brighter every day.
Music Studio Upgrade
Our music studio just leveled up in a big way β thanks to a trio of creative powerhouses. These stunning sound tiles were donated by Rebekkah at RadHaus Studio, painted with soul by artist Kathryn Crawford, and lovingly installed by the one-and-only Kim Bella.
Weβre beyond grateful for this dream team of volunteers and visionaries who helped us make this space sing!
Blue Ridge Public Radio studio visit
Our high school students recently had the incredible opportunity to visit Helen Chickering at Blue Ridge Public Radioβgetting a behind-the-scenes look at the world of public broadcasting and audio storytelling. From interviews to editing, they explored one of the many creative pathways available to those with a passion for music, media, and the arts.
A huge thank you to Kristin HarkeyβOdyssey parent and BPRβs fundraising managerβfor making this unforgettable experience possible. The students were energized and inspired, thrilled to see where their love of music could lead. Our music program is truly one of the things that sets Odyssey apartβand weβre excited to share that weβve been invited to create original music beds for future BPR ads. Stay tuned!
Freeze Dance!
Thereβs nothing quite like the magic of Freeze Danceβespecially when the music, the moves, and the rules are all made by preschoolers themselves!
In this weekβs music class with our incredible music director Agustin Palomo, students took turns making music, conducting the freezes, and dancing their hearts out. Joy, creativity, and a whole lot of gigglesβjust another day of learning through play at Odyssey!
Echo Mountain Recording trip
Last week, though our Music Career Pathways program, our high school students stepped out of the classroom and into the iconic Echo Mountain Recording Studioβone of Ashevilleβs most legendary creative spaces.
From soundboards to soundchecks, they got hands-on experience with professional recording equipment and a deeper understanding of the music production process.
Symphony Field Trip
Our high school musicians traded the classroom for the concert hall recently, stepping into the breathtaking world of live symphony. From the first soaring note to the final crescendo, they were transported by the power of musicβfeeling every emotion, hearing every nuance, and experiencing artistry at its finest.
Thank you AgustΓn for making our music program immersive and unique! Speaking of AgustΓn - donβt forget to vote for him in this yearβs WNC Best of Ballot that went live today!
