NCSEAA Opportunity Scholarship - applications open soon
North Carolina's Opportunity Scholarship program has expanded eligibility in a major way: the income cap has been removed, and families no longer need prior public school enrollment to qualify. This state program offers tuition assistance ranging from $3,000 to $7,000 that can be used at Odyssey.
If cost has been the thing keeping you from exploring whether Odyssey could work for your family, this might change the equation. These scholarships exist to open doors that felt closed.
Applications are accepted February 2 - March 2 thru NCSEAA’s MyPortal system, with priority given to early applicants thru. Learn more and apply at the NC State Education Assistance Authority. We're here to answer questions about how this scholarship works with Odyssey's tuition.

Tater Knob Farm offsite learning
On Tater Knob Farm, the rows run long and the air carries a song. Here is one of our high schoolers working the fields, whistling as he works — proof that when learning meets land, something deeper roots itself.
Friendsgiving at Odyssey
Friendsgiving at Odyssey. Good food, great company, and sunshine on our shoulders — the perfect recipe for gratitude. Here’s to a community that shows up, shares generously, and celebrates together.
Fridays with Tater Knob Farm
Friday afternoons at Odyssey are extra special.
Our high school teacher (and farmer-musician) Gabe Johnson brings fresh produce from his @taterknob farm to our Friday produce stand — and sometimes, a little live music too.
This week, he was joined by Ms. Lydia and Ms. Cary, as our kindergartners gathered outside to listen, sway, and soak up the joy.
Journey Week for Odyssey High
During Journey Week, our high schoolers set aside textbooks and step straight into adventure. The goal? To build trust, courage, and connection as we launch into the year together.
Blue Ridge Public Radio studio visit
Our high school students recently had the incredible opportunity to visit Helen Chickering at Blue Ridge Public Radio—getting a behind-the-scenes look at the world of public broadcasting and audio storytelling. From interviews to editing, they explored one of the many creative pathways available to those with a passion for music, media, and the arts.
A huge thank you to Kristin Harkey—Odyssey parent and BPR’s fundraising manager—for making this unforgettable experience possible. The students were energized and inspired, thrilled to see where their love of music could lead. Our music program is truly one of the things that sets Odyssey apart—and we’re excited to share that we’ve been invited to create original music beds for future BPR ads. Stay tuned!
Echo Mountain Recording trip
Last week, though our Music Career Pathways program, our high school students stepped out of the classroom and into the iconic Echo Mountain Recording Studio—one of Asheville’s most legendary creative spaces.
From soundboards to soundchecks, they got hands-on experience with professional recording equipment and a deeper understanding of the music production process.
