HS Monarch Release!

The magic of metamorphosis never gets old. What makes this moment even more magical? These very butterflies are part of a generational relay. It takes about four generations of monarchs to complete the long migration from the U.S. and Canada to the mountains of Mexico — each one living, reproducing, and passing the journey forward.

The monarchs our high and middle school students released last week are the super generation — the ones that will travel thousands of miles south, guided only by instinct, to overwinter in Mexico before the cycle begins anew.
