Invitation to LEAF Festival
Hello Odyssey Community!
We are reaching out with exciting news about Odyssey School and the LEAF Global Arts Festival, which takes place Friday, October 17-Sunday October 19. For those of you who aren't familiar, here's part of the "What is LEAF" section of their website:
"Since 1995, LEAF is one of the best festival traditions of coming together to celebrate world music, art, creativity, and culture. Family and friends take time to relax, discover, and reconnect. Resting within hundreds of acres of beautiful Blue Ridge Mountain country, LEAF Festival features a variety of performance stages, family adventure village, handcraft and folk art vendors, culinary artists, performing artists from a vast array of genres and cultures, and a magical outdoor camp and retreat setting awaiting your exploration!"
This year, Odyssey is reestablishing our tradition of having Odyssey students perform at LEAF. This fall, our 5th/6th Music classes will work with LEAF Teaching Artist Adama Dembele and 7th/8th music classes will perform with the LEAF International Teaching Artist from Latin America.
Saturday, Oct. 18 at 3:30 PM International Allstars with Odyssey 7th and 8th graders.
Sunday, Oct. 19 at 10:00 AM Adama with Odyssey 5th and 6th graders.
We kindly ask that families from 5th to 8th grade stay tuned for future updates and details about the trip and logistics. Families of performers can come to the festival for free both Saturday and Sunday, with the option to camp. Kids 10 and under get free admission.
In the Spring, we will have another LEAF Teaching Artists join us, and another set of classes (3rd/4th grades & High School) will have an opportunity to perform at the LEAF May Retreat.
We invite all Odyssey families to attend LEAF this October, and to cheer on our middle school students while they perform! Please reach out to Agustin if you have any questions!
Take care.
Agustin, Anne and Peter
