Head of School update 1/11
Dear Odyssey Community,
Each year after winter break, Odyssey Middle and High School participates in Minimester. Instead of jumping right back into our regular academic schedule, students mix up and join a minimester group. Minimester groups spend roughly ten days working on intensive creative projects. Students lean hard into their creativity and stretch themselves to learn new skills, all while connecting with peers and teachers around a unique and special project. This year, as we visit minimester groups, we see kids dancing to Polynesian rhythms, filming stop-motion animation, heading up a donation drive for unhoused people, traveling around the city to be inspired as writers, volunteering at a free community cafe, creating paper-mache sculptures, and putting together a rock band.
Both teachers and students comment that these days are so special because they are about choice, and deeper, focused learning experiences. Parents and families are invited to our Minimester Showcases: Middle School Wednesday at 1PM and High School Friday at 1PM, both in the gym. We look forward to seeing you there.
With Gratitude,
Anne and Peter
