Camp is a great way to spend the summer with enough time for free, creative, unbound play among our hundreds of trees and in our swimming pool. Campers can be seen throwing energetic early morning dance parties in the gym, getting active with our basketball hoops and tennis courts, playing together in group games, creating together in design challenges, and still finding the time for a little quiet relaxation.  We offer swim time every day.

Otters especially will enjoy more independent time and have a greater voice in choosing their own games and activities. The older group will also take more walking trips from camp, heading toward the Botanical Gardens to enjoy the wildlife or toward Montford Park to play group games in the large field.

Magic: The Gathering is returning, back by popular demand! Odyssey is teaming up with local game store, The Gamer’s Haunt, for a sixth year to provide a safe place for kids to build and test their skills, make new friends, and have fun.

Magic: The Gathering is a camp designed for campers interested in the strategic trading card game Magic: The Gathering. Whether you are new to Magic: The Gathering, or a long-time player, Magic Camp has something for everyone. As a game, Magic helps players develop close reading skills, logical thinking, social skills, math skills and creativity.

Campers in the beginner and intermediate groups will spend each morning at Gamer’s Haunt, then return to Odyssey in the afternoon for swimming and active play. The advanced group will spend the whole day at Gamers Haunt and will have pick up there.

This camp is geared towards newer players aged 10-14. Campers will learn how to build a deck, draft, sideboard, and play strategically. The week will culminate in a Standard tournament in which players will compete for Magic The Gathering prizes such as a playmat, deck boxes, and sealed packs.

Where: The Odyssey School campus – 90 Zillicoa St. Asheville, NC

CAMP BANGIN’ & SANGIN’! (CB&S!) with Billy Jonas is a music, songwriting, and creativity day camp, for adults and young folks. We’re excited for our third year of singing, song making, homemade instrument creation, percussing, journaling, jamming, swimming, and more!

In the interest of connection, bridging divides, and putting more love in the world through music, CB&S! seeks to honor and nurture the creativity of every participant, regardless of previous skill, ability, or talent. Everyone is encouraged to make found object instruments, create songs, and sing/vocalize daily. Participants should plan to attend the entire session, as our work each week will be cumulative, and culminate in a group concert.

Week 1: ADULTS (and their teen children, if they’d like). Come experiment and explore your creative musical spirit amidst the blue ridge mountains! Opportunities to present and refine your previously written songs, develop new ones (solo and in partnership), practice body percussion, make musical sculptures that have no wrong notes, jam with them, hone vocal technique, and sing, sing, sing. Time for creative renewal, journaling, dreaming, scheming, and swimming.  $300 / week. More info: BillyJonas.com or office@BillyJonas.com.

EVERYONE is a musician, and the above three weeks of CB&S! will prove it! Like adult week, we’ll create original work, and learn about the craft of performing; we’ll make recyclable instruments; we’ll sing, rap, clap, tap, snap, hum and strum, as well as play games, and swim. We’ll record the songs we make, and also perform them live in a final show of what we’ve crafted and learned. More info: www.BillyJonas.com or office@BillyJonas.com
