Pre-Kindergarten
Our pre-kindergarten program provides a heart-centered exploration of the world for the youngest members of the Odyssey School community.
At Odyssey School the pre-k learner’s work is play, socialization, widening and deepening the emotional vocabulary, exploring nature, hearing stories, creating plays and pageants and acting them out, dancing, drawing, imagining, dreaming, creating, whole brain and body-mind activities. The class environment is full of mystery and engaging possibilities. The flames of curiosity and the love of learning are kindled and nourished here!
Our curriculum prepares children for their entry into kindergarten along each of the six strands. The Odyssey School classroom is a place where the teacher is the facilitator of learning rather than the director of activities. Allowing and witnessing the choices of each child teaches us about his or her individuality and informs us regarding the next steps in development. Our curriculum is a living, ever-evolving document; extending and refining itself from ongoing observation, reflection, and feedback from parents, students, and other educational and developmental professionals. We offer school year and summer programming with rolling admissions.
