Middle School Students to Perform with Natalia Clavier at LEAF

Friday, May 8th, Odyssey middle school students will perform a song composed in collaboration with Thievery Corporation’s Natalia Clavier: Look for them at LEAF!

During a three day teaching residency, Natalia Clavier  accompanied by artistSky White Tiger on piano, focused on creating positive change through music with our 6th and 7th grade students. Natalia translated into English the Spanish lyrics of music activist artist Manu Chao’s song  “5 Razones” (5 Reasons).  The group discussed Manu Chao’s career and mission to discover how he evokes the power of music, and how it can be used to send a message of justice and equality to the world.  The kids then created their own English version of the chorus of the song, which will be performed on the main stage at 6:00 Friday evening.
