Katherine Rains

Black Bears Counselor

Katherine Rains is a sophomore at Appalachian State University. She grew up in Charlotte, NC but recently moved to Asheville with her family while she attends school in Boone. She is loving the mountain life and studies Art Education.

Katherine has worked at children’s camps before in Charlotte, has worked as a full-time nanny, and taught children’s swim lessons at the YWCA while also working as a lifeguard. She loves working with children and encouraging creativity. She is very excited to be part of the unique environment at the Odyssey School and learn from the children and fellow counselors. She feels inspired by their message of unbound play and creativity in such a safe, expressive community.


Odyssey School is an independent, non-profit school with a focus on whole child, emotionally intelligent, personalized curriculum for students in PreK-12. Our mission is to prepare students, families, and educators to lead lives of intention and purpose with an authentic sense of self.
