Private School High School Spanish Teacher Kristin Erhard

High School Spanish Teacher

Kristin is delighted to be returning to teach High School Spanish I at Odyssey for the 2017-18 school year. After spending the past two years as a graduate student in Spain, Denmark and the UK, Kristin is coming back to Odyssey equipped with a Master of Arts degree in Lifelong Learning and intends to inspire just that amongst her students. In addition to teaching Spanish to children and adolescents at Odyssey from 2012-14, Kristin has taught English as a Second Language to children and adults in Greece, Spain, Denmark and the United States, and has put her language acquisition insight to use as a content developer for Wlingua, a language-learning app similar to Duolingo.

As Odyssey’s high school Spanish teacher in 2012, Kristin co-organized a trip to Granada, Nicaragua where Odyssey and Erwin high school engaged in intensive Spanish language study, participated in language exchange sessions with fellow Nicaraguan high school students, and stayed with a family of local Rotary Club members Kristin had met while volunteering there in 2008. Her experiences as a language-learner abroad have informed her practices as an educator and she is passionate not only about bringing the world to the classroom, but also the classroom to the world.
