Christine Eide

High School Spanish & Drama Teacher
Originally from Western North Carolina, Christine moved back to the area in the summer of 2015. Before returning to the United States, she had been teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) for 5 years in Ecuador. It was there that she not only became fluent in Spanish, but she also developed a deep understanding of language construction and the language learning process. Prior to venturing to South America, she was a National Teaching Fellow for Citizen Schools while earning a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Lesley University. Through this experience she was able to build a strong foundation in project-based curriculum design and student-centered instruction, which has served her students well over the past 9 years.

In addition to Spanish, Christine is also very excited about teaching Drama at Odyssey! Along with a B.A. in Theater Performance and Music, she also has over 20 years experience as a performer, director and teacher. She has performed professionally with The Magnetic Theater, Different Strokes Performing Arts Collective, Bright Star Children’s Theater, Asheville Lyric Opera and Opera Carolina. While in Ecuador, she co-founded Azuay Community Theatre for which she acted as both director and producer. She has taught theater courses to children in both the U.S. and abroad and is currently assisting with “Improv for Kids” at Asheville Community Theater.

Preparing students, families, and educators to lead the 21st century with an authentic sense of self.
