5-8 Featured Work
Each January, our middle school students embark on a two-week immersion collaborative project. In 2015, students created a music video: creating a story arc that taps into the interpersonal and intrapersonal challenges of the pre-teen experience by writing lyrics, designing sets, building costumes, singing, performing, strumming, drumming, filming, and editing.
In Spanish Language & Culture, students topographically re-designed an Oaxacan village economy after watching a documentary about the immigration struggle. Students used Design-Thinking through empathy, definition, ideation, and testing to explore the agricultural, economic, transportation, and water issues of this tiny pueblo in Southern Mexico.
