Betsy Burnett

PreK Team Teacher

Betsy Burnett is dedicated to practicing a nurturing, safe, and engaging approach to working with children. Betsy has worked in the social work field since her graduation from Warren Wilson College in 2011, and then went on to earn her Master of Social Work degree from Western Carolina University in 2016. She is now a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate and Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist Associate. Betsy is also a registered yoga teacher and is excited to resume her teaching career with children’s yoga. She believes that introducing mind and body-centered practices to children can promote self-regulation skills as well as healthy social and emotional development for children.

Betsy’s experiences have taught her the value of compassion, inclusivity, and connection in fostering the most positive outcomes in early childhood development. Because of this, Betsy is passionate about cultivating a classroom environment for children where they feel safe to ask questions and explore their world with a sense of curiosity and wonder. She believes this promotes autonomy while also encouraging collaboration in community.

Betsy originally grew up in Chattanooga, Tennessee and enjoys hiking and spending time outdoors with her partner and pug in her spare time. Betsy is thrilled to be joining the Odyssey community this year while working with such talented and passionate individuals.

Preparing students, families, and educators to lead the 21st century with an authentic sense of self.
